OUR CLIENTS wanted to update the kitchen and family room in their 1860’s New England farmhouse. While expanding and reconfiguring a portion of the house, we were able to add a new entry and mudroom. The new design enhances meadow views and incorporates a butler’s pantry, which connects to the original dining room. Shortly after the project was completed, lightning struck our client’s barn, and it burned to the ground. Complying with Historic District regulations, we recreated the look of the old barn, and modified the interior to include garage space on the first floor and a small studio in the loft.
